Black and White

If the world was black and white,
I wouldn’t have to worry about wrong or right,

If the world was all in grayscale,
I wouldn’t have to worry about responding to hate mail,

If the world came with categories and tags,
I wouldn’t have to worry about an unnoticed red flag,

If the world was free of messy quarrels,
I wouldn’t have to worry about anyone’s loose morals,

But if the world wasn’t like a storm: lightning and thunder,
I would never get to imagine, to wonder,

But if the world wasn’t full of color,
I would never get to imagine my life fuller,

But if the world wasn’t divided into below, land and above,
I would never really know what it truly is to love,

But if the world wasn’t so dynamic and ever-changing,
I would never see the wonders people were exchanging,

And if I never had any goals, any worldly position,
I would never know everything I was missing,

And if I didn’t look yearning up at the sky, from down here on the ground,
All this wonder, beauty and enigma would never have been found.
