Topic – Creative writing

During the session on creative writing, Anvi engaged in discussions encompassing various elements such as imagination, creativity, wonder, writing, and language. The session extended to the eight parts of speech, namely prepositions, conjunctions, articles, adjectives, nouns, adverbs, verbs, and interjections. The students were introduced to a new term, namely “IMAGERY,” as a literary device employed in poetry, novels, and other forms of writing.

Topic – Imagery and its types, as well as, simile and metaphor

Anvi explained about Imagery and its types, namely, Visual, Auditory, Organic, Kinesthetic, Tactile, Olfactory, Gustatory. This session included discussion on “Similes and Metaphors.”

Simile – A word or phrase that compares something to something else using the words ‘like’ or ‘as’.

Metaphor – A word or phrase that is used in an imaginative way to show that somebody/something has the same qualities as something else.

Idioms – A phrase that actually means something different from its literal meaning.

A discussion based on the descriptive writing and their types in the session also took place:

1. Writing about a person (simile/metaphor/idioms)
2. Writing about an object( observation)
3. Writing about a place (imageries/sensory writing)

Students acquired the skill of enhancing the allure and appeal of their writing, fostering opportunities to apply newly learned words in meaningful contexts — a pivotal approach in the development of vocabulary.

Topic – Fiction

In this session, Anvi engaged students in the class while discussing fiction and its elements.

Fiction – stories, novels, etc. which describe events and people that are not real.

Elements of fiction – Characters, setting, plot, conflict, point of view and theme.

Students learned that fiction writing makes you more knowledgeable, improves mental abilities, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, communication abilities and emotional intelligence.

Before joining the writing workshop, I had a totally different idea about this concept. I thought it was just training on how to write, but after joining the session, I realized it was not just about how to write. I learned many things that I didn’t know before, like imagery, different types of stories and poetry, and how to construct a story. Many topics that Anvi taught were new to me.

The first session on imagery was really interesting. I actually don’t like to write but I do like to read many stories. Because of this workshop, it made me realize how talented and capable I am of writing and constructing many types of stories and poems.

Thank you for taking the initiative to teach us about writing skills. You did not just teach us; instead, you gave us assignments that really made us think more creatively. Once again, thank you for giving us your time, Anvi, and for giving me this opportunity to be a part of this wonderful session.

THE WONDER CAPSULE SESSIONS FEEDBACK

The 5 sessions we had with Anvi were very interesting and informative. In the beginning, when our teacher told us that we were having writing sessions, we had a completely different idea of what the sessions would be. But in the first session, we learned something different and interesting. The sessions were something new for us. The sessions made us think more and think in a unique way. The home tasks given to us made us think creatively. The way we were encouraged to read our thoughts made us do it better and better.

When we made a mistake in our writing, you corrected us in the next class or sent a feedback mail, which was great of you. Writing stories and imagery was very interesting. We have become better and learned something new. I would like to thank Anvi, who organized these sessions for us and also spent their time with us in the sessions. You filled us with more knowledge. Dear Anvi,
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for giving me such a beautiful opportunity my life to learn something new that I didn’t know about at all. The class was interesting as I learnt many new words and topics. I really liked it because we were given the freedom to share our thoughts, to read out aloud, and to ask questions openly and directly. The ppt’s, the explanation, tasks. and all the homework was really fantastic throughout the sessions. Interacting, enjoying, group discussion, writing on the spot and all were really just unforgettable. I will share all the things that I learnt from the session with all my classmates.

I was just a little flame of little knowledge but now I can answer bravely, talk confidently and speak correctly as now I have become a spark.

You have always supported me by teaching and now that I have learnt I will make sure that I go through everything every day and start writing and creating my own thoughts and ideas. Before I attended all of your informative sessions, I was creating and writing framing my own thoughts but only now do I know that there is still more that I can practice and follow your guidance when I write or think about something new. All that I have learnt is now only possible through your guidance. The session was on the topic of writing skills. On the first day, we had no idea what we were going to learn! On the 1st day, it was not only informative but also fun learning. We had a two-hour session but we couldn’t realize how quickly the time passed as we were so engrossed in the session.

In this session, I learned a lot about grammar, types of writing, story characters, story writing, poetic devices, and many more. Anvi taught us very well and clarified all our doubts without hesitation. She was very friendly. We had homework assignments that improved our skills and creativity.

After attending these sessions, I can feel the change in my writing. I can think creatively and give my best. I thank Anvi for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

Feedback: Writing skills Host: Anvi Tuteja
The writing skills session was for 5 days/10 hours. We learnt many topics from the session. We learnt the parts of speech, simile metaphor, imagery, descriptive writing, story creation, types of story, backstory, poetry, types of poetry and many more. The sessions were explained so well that understood everything very quickly. Anvi kept us engaged for 2 hours each day. She never made the sessions boring for us. We also got home tasks to do which made us even more creative in our writing. Anvi also sent feedback for our home task which is so sweet of her. I enjoyed writing imageries which made me more confident in writing. Over all, I liked all the five sessions. I thank Anvi for teaching us new topics. We have gained so much knowledge through these sessions. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to attend these sessions. We promise that we will also share this knowledge with all our friends.

The sessions on Writing Skills were conducted virtually by Ms Anvi Tuteja for 5 consecutive days 2 hours each day. She was a great teacher with lots of inputs and systematic teaching at such a young age. Our students from class 8, 9 & 10 attended these sessions with great enthusiasm. Every day something new awaited them and the students gave positive feedback after every session. This was the first time such an interesting session on writing skills was conducted for our children.

One of our English teachers asked the students who attended the sessions to share what was taught in the English periods. She was extremely happy with the way the students could explain every bit of the sessions by dividing the topics among themselves. She expressed how the students were able to express their thoughts with creativity in a flow. The other students in the class expressed to her that they too would like to attend such sessions.
